Navy Week Information

The U.S. Navy is coming to Burlington, Vermont, Aug. 24-30 for Burlington Navy Week, the first such event in the state of Vermont.

Burlington Navy Week will bring Sailors to engage directly with communities across the Lake Champlain region through a series
of performances, educational activities, community events, and service projects.

Burlington Navy Week participants and events are scheduled to include:

  • Executive outreach engagements for key community leaders with Rear Adm. Brett W. Mietus, Commander, Joint Region Marianas, and “hometown Sailor” Chief Warrant Officer Jason T. Senecal, from Essex Junction, Vermont
     
  • A chance to meet Sailors and Civilian Mariners from “namesake” vessels USS Montpelier (SSN 765) and the Military Sealift Command’s USNS Burlington (T-EPF 10)
     
  • Public concerts and musical outreach from Navy Band Northeast’s Jack Tar Brass ensemble, and a special Aug. 31 concert from the Rhode Island Sound rock band
     
  • Historical displays and presentations from Naval History and Heritage Command archaeologists, and the Navy’s oldest commissioned warship, USS Constitution
     
  • Static displays, boat tours and tactical demonstrations from Maritime Security Squadron 8, featuring a 34-foot Sea Ark harbor patrol boat
     
  • Education and youth outreach from Navy Talent Acquisition Group New England, the U.S. Naval Academy, and the Navy’s Bureau of Medicine and Surgery
     
  • Public drill performances from the Navy Ceremonial Guard Drill Team
     
  • STEM displays and guest weather forecasts from Navy meteorologists
     
  • “Doing Business with the Navy” seminar presented by the Navy Office of Small Business Programs, featuring the Submarine Industrial Base


Look for the Navy around the Champlain Valley community all week, including:

  • Burlington Community Boathouse, Waterfront Park, and ECHO Leahy Center area
  • Lake Champlain Maritime Museum, Vergennes
  • Church Street Marketplace and downtown Burlington
  • Opening weekend of the Champlain Valley Fair, Aug. 28-30 in Essex Junction (special Military Appreciation Day rock concert on Monday, Aug. 31)
